You have choices! Lots of them. What we do best is listen! We listen to the musicians needs. While the standard Washington Ave Pickup has an incredible sound and guaranteed to knock your socks off or your Money Back (minus shipping), you can talk to us and describe what you are looking for in a "sound." You can say, "I like a twang but I need GROWL!" We'll do our best to get you what you want for your individual sound. Think of it as a sonic finger print. Thats the marvel in Hand Wound Pickups. No two are the same. Its Brilliant!
Mix and Match Pickups? Hell Yeah!!! Do it!!! In the above picture is a homemade Pine-Caster. The bridge pickup looks like a Washington Avenue Standard Lead Pickup but it's not. It has all the parts of the Standard Washington Avenue but its wound to 20k Ohms. The Neck Pickup is a Sound Laboratories Mini Humbucker wound to 27k Ohms. Somehow this combination worked out incredibly after of dozens of variations. It started out with a tradition 50 style flat top thin magnets wound to 7.5k Ohms. That was cool but we were looking for some kick. The there was that neck pick. No matter what we tried it just couldn't match the lead pickup. Until this 27k Ohm pickup was made. Sometimes thats how it goes. The guitar doesn't do it until it does.
Whats cool about this setup is the additional wiring. Both pickups have a volume control and can blend when the 3 way switch is set in the middle. There is no tone control on this Pine-Caster. Guitarists wait in line to play this guitar during or Saturday night jams.
